The Jesus Way Journey Series

The Jesus Way Journey consists of three basic modules. They are:

The Jesus Way;
The Jesus Way: The Bible;
and,
The Jesus Way: Listening to God.

The three resources are designed to help men answer three questions vital to every man’s faith. Who Am I? Who Is God? Who Am I When in Right Relationship with God?

Who Am I?

We help men answer this question in the basic building block of The Jesus Way Journey, The Jesus Way. It is a twenty-four session study divided up into six, four-week sections. In this study each man will be guided along a pathway that helps take a look at his life, his life story, through series of “lenses.” Each of the six sections provides the men in the study a different lens through which to examine their lives.

To be clear, this is not a journey of judgment. This is an exploration into a greater self-understanding. Knowing who we are, how we got to be the way we are, and identifying areas of growth will prepare each man for the second module of The Jesus Way Journey, The Bible. It focuses on the second question.

Who Is God?

In The Jesus Way: The Bible, each man will be shown the richness and wonder of Christianity’s primary resource, the Bible. This resource approaches the Bible as the sacred resource it is, not as an idol to worship, but as a compilation of many different kinds of writings about God through the eyes of Jews and Christians alike, told from multiple perspectives over many centuries.

A basic reading of the Bible helps us grow in our knowledge of God. Studying the forms of writing found in the Bible and the contexts, circumstances, and people who wrote them deepens our understanding of God and God’s story. As we gain a greater understanding of God and God’s story, we discover what God expects of us. That takes us to the third module of The Jesus Way Journey, Listening to God.

Who Am I When in Right Relationship with God?

The third module of The Jesus Way Journey, The Jesus Way: Listening to God, brings our stories into God’s story through study and prayer. Using an ancient form of prayer called lectio divina (Latin for “divine reading”), each man will be led to listen to the message God has for him, and collectively for the men in the study, through selected texts of the Bible.

There are no Bible scholars in this study. Each man becomes his own interpreter of the text in ways that speak directly to him. The process assists each man to see his personal story as part of God’s master story. It is a practice that has stood the test of time for all Christians seeking a deeper relationship with God.
